So he crammed himself into them for a few shots where they couldn't avoid shooting him full length (which must have been really uncomfortable), and wore the slippers as much as possible.

You wouldn't catch him wearing weirdly inappropriate clothes, like jeans in the gym." Then I remembered the slippers.

(For those who don't know, any time you see Cushing on screen he's wearing his slippers because the boots they got him were too small. They just shot him above the knees.)
