<![CDATA[Well fuck.]]>Well fuck. Remember when I said I was going to be deploying a desktop for my mom's church's office? (My mother is the church secretary).

Yeah, that can't happen, because they use a proprietary church management software that is Windows based. Linux clients exist, but only for RHEL, SuSE Enterprise, CentOS, and Ubuntu. They state the packages will not work on other distros. The church will never pay for RedHat nor SuSE, CentOS is fucking shite, and Ubuntu is beyond shite. Even if I can get it working in another distro, the minute they have an issue, the vendor will stonewall the minute they see an unsupported configuration.

So I get to support a fucking Windows 11 machine.

I haven't touched a Windows computer in close to a year. This is gonna be fun on the bun.

It takes care of pretty much all the annoying parts of windows.

I can support Linux, but whoever inherits this church's mess after my mom steps down as secretary probably won't be able to. So Microsoft wins again because the world is basically incompetent.

I don't want to have to drive 40 miles to fix a grub fuckup because Canonical flubbed yet another kernel update.

My mother isn't going to be secretary forever, and I want to leave them with something that someone else can support. A reliable Linux distro would have been viable, but Ubuntu is hardly known for the consistency and stability of their updates.
