Man I hate a lot of things about the telecom situation in Canada but one of the thing I hate the most is that they will just change the price they charge you with absolutely no notice, just a new monthly charge on your next bill. How is that legal?

We have two phones with Canada wide calling/texting and 50G data for 32/mo each. If you don't need much data you can get unlimited calling/text plans that start at about 20 dollars with 1or2G.
