Summer was hiding behind the table leg again.
I sat down on the floor to figure out why.
I said that finding her, when she was so well hidden, was just luck.
Summer was ready to talk so I listened.
She says that she just doesn't understand why our lives are like a top ten roller coaster ride. Something good happens and before we can celebrate something not so good is happening so we get nervous again. Over and over, around and around, the ups and downs are dizzying.
Summer says she is ready for a break.
I think we all are past ready.
I told her that we are going to have to buckle up and work hard for change. It won't be easy but we owe it to each other to fight for our idea of a better world.
We can't let the baddies wear us out.
I reminded her that we have a sunset to watch right in our backyard and a democracy to save so we have to get out from under the table.
She said to count her in.
