Torino, 31 mar. (Adnkronos) - "L'economia europea cresce di meno rispetto a quelle americana e cinese" al prof. Luigi Guiso, dell'Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance, il compito di presentare i principali aspetti emersi nel libro-indagine "Famiglie e risparmio" della Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, presentato al Collegio Carlo Alberto di Torino.
"L'economia cinese in 20 anni, da una situazione di relativa arretratezza, ha raggiunto oggi le nuove frontiere della tecnologia, si è portata in una situazione in cui compete, come gigante dell'innovazione, con gli Stati Uniti. L'Europa è molto indietro da questo punto di vista, e l'Italia, purtroppo, è indietro rispetto a molti paesi dell'Europa. Ora, tra risparmio e crescita c'è una correlazione naturale: se si osserva un calo nel tasso di risparmio, cos'è che lo ha spinto? - si chiede il prof. Guiso - Lo ha spinto qualche forza che ha spostato la disponibilità a risparmiare, oppure il fatto che sia calato l'incentivo a investire. Quello che sostiene il libro è che la nostra economia ha da tempo perso il dinamismo, ha perso la capacità di innovare, la creatività che ha caratterizzato l'economia italiana negli anni del boom economico, e ancora negli anni '70. Noi dagli anni '90 a oggi abbiamo perso 20 punti di capacità di produrre e di estrarre output da un'unità di capitale a un'unità di reddito - aggiunge - in una situazione del genere l'incentivo a investire si attenua, perché vi sono meno opportunità d'investimento; con meno opportunità d'investimento, si investe di meno: investendo di meno, il risparmio cala. E l'interpretazione che viene data nel libro è che la causazione deriva dal fatto che si è inaridita la capacità di innovare nella nostra economia" sono le conclusioni illustrate dal prof. Luigi Guiso.

“The Chinese economy, in 20 years, from a situation of relative backwardness, has today reached the new frontiers of technology, has brought itself into a situation where it competes, as a giant of innovation, with the United States. Europe is very far behind from this point of view, and Italy, unfortunately, is behind many European countries. Now, between savings and growth there is a natural correlation: if you observe a decline in the savings rate, what pushed it? - asks Professor Guiso - Did it push it some force that shifted the willingness to save, or the fact that the incentive to invest has fallen? What the book argues is that our economy has long lost dynamism, has lost the ability to innovate, the creativity that characterized the Italian economy during the economic boom, and still in the 1970s. From the 1990s to today, we have lost 20 points of capacity to produce and to extract output from a unit of capital to a unit of income - he adds - in this situation the incentive to invest weakens, because there are fewer investment opportunities; with fewer investment opportunities, one invests less; investing less, savings falls. And the interpretation given in the book is that the causation comes from the fact that the ability to innovate has dried up in our economy” are the conclusions illustrated by Professor Luigi Guiso.
