Here are some key takeaways from tonight:1. Doing some labour market research about availability of jobs and future prospects can help gear us towards something sustainable. 2. Showing an employer that you meet what they are looking for is more than just what's communicated through your application / in the interview, it's also about how you show up and engage throughout the process. Reliability and communication are top in-demand skills across sectors.3. Looking for work is more than applying for jobs. It's about talking to people you know, and networking with people you don't to tell them who you are professionally, what you're looking for, and how they can help. Mapping out your network on paper helps visualize your people and who you need to reconnect with. 4. Being effective in the job search also means taking care of ourself to prevent burn out. Setting structure, time limits, and moving with the flow of your energy can be helpful in moving things along but at a pace that feels healthy.

erin@ottawa.place
